Marie Hightower, Treasurer
Marie currently serves as the treasurer for The Moyonna C. Tillman Foundation Inc.
Marie holds an undergraduate degree from Columbia College and a Masters’ Degree from The University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC. Marie is currently a Sr. VP with M&T Bank.
Marie began her banking career in 2003 and joined M&T Bank in 2007 through a merger. Throughout her banking career, Marie has made important contributions to the goals and objectives of current and previous employers.
She currently manages a portfolio of business banking clients. Her role as a bank officer includes being a brand ambassador in the M&T Community, directing sales and business development. Marie possesses a wealth of knowledge and familiarity working with business owners in the DC Metropolitan/Suburban MD area. She is an expert at advising business owners on various banking products/services and business resources such as business financing, lending facilities, and mergers and acquisitions.
In addition to her many leadership roles at M&T Bank, Marie is responsible for building the bank's presence in the community and serves on numerous boards throughout M&T’s footprint. Marie has served as a member of the Market Advisory Council. Marie is active with the Women Interest Network in Washington, DC, and the African American Resource Group. Marie is a member of The National Congress of Black Women. She serves as a mentor with Mentor Foundation USA in Washington DC and LearnServe International, where she is currently mentoring as a venture and was afforded the opportunity to meet Queen Silvia of Sweden. Marie also serves as an advisor to The Montgomery County Business Acceleration Program.
Marie is committed to remaining involved in the local community. She currently works with and serves on the boards of various Chamber of Commerce and not-for-profits that, include the Washington Area Community Investment Fund, United Planning Organization, DC Small Business Development Center, and The Bowie Chamber of Commerce. Marie is an active member of the Washington DC Chamber of Commerce, The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and CAGLCC. Marie also actively supports Kiva and WETA. Marie volunteers and personally supports organizations such as The Mission of Love Charity in Capital Heights, MD, and Women Giving Back in Sterling, VA.
In her spare time, Marie enjoys traveling the globe (South Africa, India, China, Costa Rica, Iceland, England, Thailand, and Dubai …. to name a few), reading (non-fiction), and cheering for the Commanders, Wizards, and Nationals. Marie was born and raised in South Carolina. She currently lives in Maryland with her husband Muhammad.
